Notes

This year's cohort had, as a group applied rather more ambitiously to universities than students in recent years. While most of these applications were successful, we had a larger than usual (though still small!) number of students who did not gain entry to their first choice university. Support was provided for these students, all of whom were pleased with their eventual destinations. Despite concerns voiced in the press, we experienced no difficulties with clearing: all students having a choice of appropriate courses from which to choose.

Subjectively, the feeling is that the results of the Year Group are pleasing. All of the most able students obtained mainly A grade passes (16 students obtained just A and B grades at A level, with 7 of them passing with 'straight A grades'), while the less academically able generally obtained grades in line with, or in excess of, expectations. A small handful of students underachieved but in each case this was expected, being caused by a less than ideal response to the demands of their courses.
