Adoption of Minutes from Last Meeting
Meg opened the meeting and welcomed everyone. Meg asked if there were any comments or amendments with regards to last year’s minutes, none were noted. It was agreed to sign and adopt last years minutes.
Chairpersons Report
Meg gave her Chairpersons Report a copy of which is attached.
The adoption of the Chairpersons Report was nominated by Jan Clifford and seconded by Polly Phillipson, all were in favour.
Mr Farrar thanked and congratulated Meg and the Committee for their work raising funds and organising events. He and everyone thought that Meg had done a great job and that she and her family would be missed by all. He also mentioned that the Governors passed on their appreciation too.
Treasurers’ Report
David handed out a printed copy of the accounts; He felt that it had been a good year and that the Spring Fair stood out as a great fund raising achievement. Figures for the bread sales have been high for the last terms with £1,000 going to charity for the autumn and spring terms with the summer terms money going to Macmillan Nurses. The balance carried forward has been increased by approx £300 which is a healthy position to be in. Whilst most of the money is given away to good causes it is always useful to keep a healthy balance to support the organised PA events. David asked if there were any questions. Mrs Becky Page asked how much the sandpit for the Nursery had cost in the end. It was noted that the PA had not funded this project because it had been built by the maintenance department although the PA is still looking into the possibility of providing a gazebo for the Nursery instead.
The adoption of the Treasurers Report was nominated by Jan Clifford and seconded by Richard Brown.
Mr Farrar thanked David for his handling of the accounts during his term as Treasurer. He praised the presentation and how they are maintained; he felt it gave a sense of confidence to know they were looked after properly.
Resignations during the Year
Sadly there have been some resignations this year.
Firstly Pat Sharpe left after Christmas, her job as Newsletter Editor went to Alison Etty.
Jan Clifford is to leave as her son is leaving Ratcliffe.
Eleanor Waters, Junior Department Rep is to stand down from the Committee but has said she will help when needed. Alison Stokes is to take over the role.
Richard Brown has resigned from the Committee due to increased work commitments, although he has offered to help with jobs throughout the year.
Meg Fenu has had to stand down as Chairperson as she is moving with her family to Belgium.
All these members will be missed and the Committee thanks them for all there hard work over the last year.
Meg also wanted to send thanks to Mr Andrew Nutter, who is leaving the school. The Parents Association were grateful to Andrew for all his hard work ensuring our functions and events run smoothly, he will be missed by all.
Meg presented the members with a thank you gift as a token of our appreciation.
David then presented Meg with a gift as a thank you for all her hard work and everyone wished her and her family all the best for the future.

Becky Page asked why there was not a deputy secretary. It was felt that it had been that previously there had not been enough members to fill the positions that there were and that this was easily covered if the need should arise.
The election concluded the formal AGM. Refreshments were served.
Ratcliffe College Parents’ Association
Committee Meeting
Tuesday 27th June 2006
David opened the meeting as the new Chairperson.
He thanked Mr Andrew Nutter on behalf of the Committee for all his hard work of the past years as he is also leaving during the summer and this was to be his last meeting.
There were just a couple of outstanding points:
Junior Sports Day – Eleanor has organised volunteers to help with tombola and refreshments. Becky as about the jars for the tombola, Polly said that year 6 students were to set this up before sports day started, Becky will help organise them.
Cocktail Party - Meg reported that so far we have only sold 43 tickets, although there are approx another 30 tickets for people who have expressed an interest. It was felt that 75/80 was to be the minimum number for the event to go ahead. There is to be a table in the sports day marquee selling tickets to encourage more sales.
Meg is to organise a flyer to go to senior school parents via the students.
Newsletter, it was decided that Alison should produce another newsletter with all the upto date PA information to go in the September mailing. Anything to be included should be given to Alison the week of 5th September. Amalia is to produce a volunteer’s letter to go in the same mailing asking for new members and volunteers to be added to the list.
Bread Sales. These have been successful this year. Only one more remains on 5th July, we will be selling cakes, biscuits and ice lollies in aid of the Ride for Rachel charity. Meg asked whether anyone would be willing to take on the bread sales for next year. It was suggested that a rota system be set up, Mr Farrar said that had been tried before and that it really needed one or two people to be the driving force behind it. There are no definite takers at the minute but Alison Stokes said she may be able to help on a regular basis perhaps with a rota for helpers; she is to let us know. If now perhaps a note could go in the newsletter asking for help.
Mr Farrar mentioned that the date for the New Parents Reception is to be arranged soon, it will be emailed to David to confirm. It will be the same format as last year. Sam is to speak to Pat Sharpe to organise invitations etc. Mr Farrar also mentioned that Daryl is planning the diary for next term and Sam is to speak to him with regards to a date for the quiz and curry night.
Date for the next meeting: Tuesday 12th September at 7.30pm in the conference room.
David thanked everyone and the meeting ended.
