Books and Reading:

For the latest news and reviews on children’s/teenage books, try the following:

www.achuka.co.uk  –this is a very useful site for keeping up-to-date with new books and the latest in children’s/teenage literature.

www.lovereading.co.uk  –a very useful site to help you to choose your next book . It has free downloads of opening extracts and an author 'like for like' service. You can also register and buy books too

www.lovereading4kids.co.uk  –this is a fantastic resource of online book reviews for children’s and teenage books. There are some very interesting features such as Author of the Month.

www.cool-reads.co.uk  –this is an excellent site for book reviews, all written by 10-15 year olds.

www.storiesfromtheweb.org  –this is an interesting resource from Birmingham Library and Information Services, featuring interactive book resources, as well as book reviews.

www.booktrustchildrensbooks.org.uk/Teenage-Books -This site is about books and book-related activities for children and teenagers. It is written for intelligent young readers who are keen to choose their own books, and includes a 'book chooser' which will match books to your reading preferences.

Good research skills are vital to the success of independent study. For some valuable tips, have a look at the following sites:
