Boarding Taster Weekend
Despite a lot of good publicity in recent years, the term “Boarding School” still conjures up, for some people, very outdated and negative images. One of our aims of organising our ‘Boarding Taster Sessions’ is to show children – and their parents, what boarding in the 21st Century is really all about.
Towards the end of the Spring Term, we hold our Boarding Taster Weekend. This is an opportunity for children in Years 6 to 9 to spend two days boarding at the school. The event is invariably a lot of fun – for our visitors and for our regular boarders – being packed with non-stop action and a wide choice of activities.
In the second half of the Summer Term, we hold Boarding Taster Sessions for children in Year 6. These run from Sunday afternoon until the end of lessons on Wednesday and their aim is to show what ‘real’ boarding is about: a lively community in which there is ample time to complete academic work and then plenty of opportunities to share time with friends, whether relaxing in common rooms or participating in a variety of activities.
Our boarding taster sessions invariably attract very positive feedback – both from our current day students and from children who are due to join Ratcliffe in the near future.
