Extra-curricular Programme
Summer Term 2008

March 2008

Dear Parents

Extra-Curricular Programme

Please find attached a copy of the extra-curricular programme for the summer term 2008.

As usual, we are aware that the summer term is a very busy time for all students, particularly with regard to both public and school examinations.  However, we also know that it is important for young people to be able to spend time away from their studies in constructive leisure pursuits.

The summer term programme, particularly for older students, is less extensive than in other terms to reflect the focus on examinations.  However, we would ask you to encourage your son or daughter to take an active part in the range of activities we have on offer, adding the usual warning that it is more important than ever to strike the correct balance with academic work.

The dates for the Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions are included in the termly calendar; there have been some alterations to the dates for the Gold Award, but the Silver and Bronze expeditions are the same as published at the start of the year.  Mr Ward, the D of E Co-ordinator, will send a separate letter about each expedition.

You will see from other items in this mailing that Ratcliffe continues to have an extensive array of newsletters to keep parents and students informed about the many events and activities taking place in the school – Boarding, ‘Newman News’ for the Junior Department and newsletters for the Chaplaincy, Library and the Combined Cadet Force all reflect the opportunities available and the successes achieved by students of all ages in the school.  The latest edition of the Ratcliffe Voice has been distributed to students this week at school – at 12 pages long, we thought it best for our carbon footprint not to send it to all our parents! - a copy is available on the website at (www.ratcliffecollege.com), along with details of many of the activities that have taken place this term.

Kind regards

Yours sincerely

Darryl Wideman
Deputy Head (Pastoral)
