Boarding Newsletter

The new academic year got off to a very good start; our new boarders all settled quickly, helped by members of staff and those students returning to Ratcliffe after the summer holiday. These returning students enjoyed catching up with each others’ news, and everybody settled into their new routines.
Study grades, sent to parents of all students at or before half‐term, show that the large majority of our boarding students have (as usual!) been working hard. The boarding staff place great importance on trying to ensure that each one of our students is working to the best of their ability, and assisting those who sometimes struggle with organisation. While academic work should be every student’s first priority, it is also important that they maintain a good balance between this and the extracurricular activities which are both enjoyable in their own right and do so much to help them to develop as individuals.
The photos that follow this letter show just some of the many trips and activities enjoyed by the boarders during the past few weeks. With the cost of weekend trips and visits now included in the full boarding fee, many more students have taken the opportunity to enjoy some time away from school – a good reward and something to look forward to at the end of a busy week’s work!
