Junior Choir at the Young Voices Concert
01-12-2011

After months of practising their singing and dance moves, 47 children from the Junior Choir accompanied Mrs Markham, Mrs Rigby and Mr McCall to the Young Voices Concert at the Birmingham LG Arena. The afternoon was spent practising with the other schools and the band. After a much needed packed tea, we returned to the arena excited for the concert to begin. Thankfully once we put up our school banner, the parents were able to spot us in a crowd of Young Voices t-shirts and Santa hats! We were lucky to have seats right at the front with a brilliant view of the stage. As the music started and the lights came up it was a very special feeling. To hear 5,000 children singing together in a professional concert venue is amazing. It was a fantastic experience for the children to take part in such an event, and they all joined in with great enthusiasm and enjoyment. As always, their behaviour was a credit to the school and thanks must go to Mrs Markham for all of the weeks of preparation she has put into the choir practices. It was lovely to have so many of our parents there to support us and share the experience with us. There were certainly a lot of very tired children at the end of the evening, but to be part of such an amazing experience is well worth a few sleepy eyes the next day! If you have access to the internet you may like to look on Youtube for the Young Voices 29th November 2011, Birmingham concert – Pop Medley, as Ratcliffe children feature quite heavily right from the start of the clip!
